Semai Origin

At the peaks of the main range in Pahang at an altitude of 450m (1500ft), cacao is harvested by 150 families across five settlements in an agro-forestry, biodiverse, natural setting. The majority of cacao trees here are seed-grown and not grafted. These families belong to the Semai community, which means "to sow" in Malay, and they have been instrumental in making our award-winning Semai origin chocolate possible. In recognition of their contributions, we have named this origin after them instead of the locality.

We ferment the beans in Chengal Neobalanocarpus heimii wood boxes for six days, then sun-dry them on bamboo-surfaced tables in a greenhouse at our farm.

This bar was crafted with care to express its roots, and we invite chocolate lovers to taste and experience the unique flavor profile of this exceptional origin.
